NOTE: We will use PhotoShop in class. If you own PhotoShop Elements, please note that it is a less powerful version of PhotoShop. Although the two programs have many features in common, PhotoShop Elements doesn't include as many options as the full version of PhotoShop. Consequently, about 20% of what we cover in the PhotoShop class will not apply to PhotoShop Elements. The key concepts and techniques, however, are quite similar.
TOOLS: Learn how to use the tools, menus, and palettes in Photoshop. Learn how to change foreground and background color. Use the
Paintbrush, Pencil, Eraser, Fill Tool, Gradient, Zoom, Move, and other tools. EDIT PHOTOGRAPHS Learn how to lighten, darken, blur, and sharpen portions of a photograph. Adjust color balance, change color schemes, apply filters
for artistic effects, etc. Erase, crop, and combine images. Select different parts of an image. Copy & paste.
FILE FORMATS & MODES Learn about and work with different file formats and modes. TEXT AND SHAPES Add and format text. Add shapes and learn how edit, format, and rotate them. LAYERS: Learn how to add, move, and delete layers. Include layers with solid color backgrounds, gradients, and patterns. Select portions of different photos and combine them into one. PREREQUISITES: Introduction to
Windows or comparable experience. Course handout covers versions
